Long overdue – The Great American Road Trip

For the first time in nearly a year and a half, I have not posted every week.  I have good reason – I have been traveling, with kids.  Two weeks ago we packed up the house and embarked upon the Great American Road Trip.  We have covered 3,000 miles and seven states so far – California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado.  Our ultimate destination is Virginia, which we plan on reaching in two weeks.  Internet connectivity has been patchy in some places and non-existent in Montana.  Well, it only seemed non-existent in Montana, but mostly because we weren’t making an effort to be connected.  Our efforts were focused on enjoying the natural pleasures and scenery of a stunningly green and gorgeous state.  In the next couple weeks I’ll be posting about the trip and including pictures, so stay tuned!

  1. When the girls get restless the one thing that always calms them down is playing their favorite CD – Sir Oliver’s Songs. We listen to it no less than three times every day we’re driving. And we stop every two hours at least to run around, stretch legs, fly the kite. . . And if my husband sits in the back with them and reads stories and interacts with them, they love the attention and are happy campers (I can’t read in the car). It just takes some effort and patience to entertain them when I’d rather be gazing out the window and daydreaming. Active parenting is tiring, whether one is on a road trip or not!
